Meeting called to order by Robert Taylor

Welcome and Introductions

Robert Taylor welcomed the attendees to the meeting and recognized new business partners and new facilities members.

Current Board members were introduced: President Robert Taylor, VP Dee Littlejohn, Secretary Ron Tarbutton, Treasurer Sallie Spotanski, and Past President Gloria Fuller (filling in for Glen Haubold).

3:00 p.m. Technical Presentation

Restoration Specialists introduced key members of their company and made a slide presentation about fire and smoke damage remediation and restoration. The presentation also included the introduction of live smoke into a test room followed with a demonstration of techniques for cleaning and removing odors from the fire.

Announcement that last year’s annual meeting minutes will be posted on the DFWAPPA website.

Treasury Report

Distributed to members, $12,580.66 as of 5/19/09.

Golf Tournament Committee report

Tournament planning progress. The golf tournament is scheduled to be held at the Texas Woman’s University golf course on June 16, 2009. Registration begins at 8:00a.m., tee time at 9:00a.m. All business sponsorships are filled but we still have spaces for facilities member golfers.

Old Business

Reminder to business partners that the $175 annual dues are due to be paid now.

New Business

Robert Taylor made an announcement requesting volunteer Business Partners and Campuses to host the future quarterly meetings.

The DFWAPPA sponsor fees remain unchanged:

  • Web Site Sponsor $400.00
  • Registration Sponsor $150.00
  • Lunch/Dinner Sponsor $250.00
  • Break Sponsor $75.00
  • Technical Session Sponsor $300.00
  • Newsletter Sponsor $100.00
  • Gift Sponsor $150.00
  • A $100.00 discount will be offered to a company willing to sponsor all three quarterly meeting sponsorships (registration, meal, and technical session).

Election of New Board Members

The list of board nominees were read and the floor was opened for additional nominations from the membership. Individual board nominees were voted on one at a time and approved by a general membership vote.

The new Board members are: President Dee Littlejohn, Vice President Ron Tarbutton, Secretary Gail Henderson, Treasurer Sallie Spotanski, Senior Board member John Shen, Junior Board Member Ward Sheeder, and Past President Robert Taylor.

The new Board members were formally installed with an oath of office.

Past President Robert Taylor announced the President Awards winners.

APPA 2009 Conference and Exibition scheduled July 8-10 in Vancover, British Columbia, Canada.

CAPPA 2009 will be at the University of North Dakota September 26-30.

Doug Titus, announced a free ASSA ABLOY seminar at the Grapevine Convention Center 9:30-4:00p.m., on June 4, about door security control technology.

Recognition of Outgoing President and Incoming President

Bob Cassagrande, SMU, spoke to the meeting attendees with comments (roast) recognizing the accomplishments and contribution by the outgoing President, Robert Taylor. Kevin Folsom also formally recognized the good works of Robert Taylor. Dee Littlejohn then presented Robert with a gift card and plaque and thanked him for his leadership of DFWAPPA.

Robert Taylor ceremoniously handed over the DFWAPPA gavel to incoming President Dee Littlejohn.

DFWAPPA Scholarship Announcement

Dee Littlejohn recognized and thanked Restoration Specialists for the $500 donation to start a DFWAPPA scholarship. Business partners were informed about this new scholarship fund being established and encouraged contributions.
